Today people hear a lot of fine words about human rights and democracy, but this is all doubletalk, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei told the ONT TV channel, BelTA informs.

“Today, many lofty words about human rights, democracy, freedom, beautiful future and so on and so forth are meant for the ears of ordinary people. All this, I should say, is an absolute sham aimed to camouflage many other things,” Vladimir Makei said.

According to the minister, the formation of a multi-polar world has been going on for a long time. Now major geopolitical players are redistributing the spheres of influence, and a clash of interests is taking place. The Belarusian diplomat is convinced that the escalation of the situation may lead to a new cold war. And Belarus found itself trapped between these interests.

“Located on the border between the West and the East, Belarus directly feels this influence. We should not leave, we need to proceed from the fact that we are destined to live on this piece of land, as our president says, and we will stay here. Our friendships will depend on the way the situation develops,” the foreign minister noted.
