In January-April 2021 the Brest Oblast export of services rose by over 25%, BelTA learned from the Foreign Economic Ties and Investment Activities Office of the Economy Committee of the Brest Oblast Executive Committee.

In January-April 2021 Brest Oblast exported $128.4 million worth of services, the growth rate reached 125.4% while the surplus of the foreign trade in services totaled $78 million. The export of equipment and vehicle repair services rose most rapidly – from $2.6 million in January-April 2020 to $12.7 million in January-April 2021. OAO 558 Aircraft Repair Plant accounted for the bulk of the foreign currency earnings ($12.5 million). Meanwhile, the export of transport services rose by 16.8%, with the export of construction services up by 17.8% and the export of computer services up by 24.2%.

It is worth noting that private companies accounted for about 95% of the Brest Oblast export of services that excludes enterprises accountable to the central government.

The export of tourism services dropped considerably due to restrictions relating to the coronavirus pandemic. In January-April foreigners bought $417,700 worth of tourism services, 30.3% as against January-April 2020. The same situation was observed in healthcare. However, the presidential decree that waives visas for foreigners seeking COVID-19 vaccination in Belarus can reverse the negative trend. Eight foreign citizens intend to get vaccinated in Brest Polyclinic No.2 in August. Citizens of the UK, Germany, and Poland are among them.
