The export of Belarusian food products to Kazakhstan is increasing every year, Belarus' First Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Igor Brylo told reporters, BelTA informs.

“Kazakhstan is second only to Russia as the biggest market for Belarusian foodstuffs. We appreciate that our products are in great demand in Kazakhstan, and I should say that our trade and economic relations are getting increasingly vibrant every year. We expect the export of our products to Kazakhstan to grow by 20% in 2021 over 2020 when we sold more than $300 million worth of products. It is gratifying that our exports are increasing every year,” Igor Brylo said.

According to him, the two countries are mulling over a joint agricultural project. “We suggested creating a kind of a model Belarusian farm that can be scaled up throughout Kazakhstan later. Therefore, we have worked out financing and other project issues with the Development Bank. Kazakhstan is to submit its proposals until 15 July, and after that we will invite them to visit us and will show a real facility of this kind on the territory of Belarus,” the first deputy minister said.

“There is a shortage of milk in Kazakhstan, therefore we held meetings with local business people who seek to produce milk domestically, so that they will not have to import dairy products from other countries. They want to follow the path that Belarus passed 10-15 years ago. Of course, we are ready to lend a helping hand and share our best practices, expertise and knowledge,” Igor Brylo said.

The Belarusian governmental delegation headed by Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko is on a visit to Kazakhstan.
