Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation on 19 June, Belarus president's spokesperson Natalya Eismont told the media, BelTA has learned.

“I want to preempt your questions. The issue regarding Gazprom's bank was not raised. This topic was not discussed,” said the spokeswoman.

According to her, the conversation focused on three main topics. “The first one was the pandemic. The heads of state discussed in detail the situation with the coronavirus in Russia and Belarus, its development and ways of counteraction,” said Natalya Eismont.

Vladimir Putin spoke in particular about the new medication developed in Russia based on Japanese medicines. “This is a brand new drug and, as was noted, it is effective and works well. In this regard, Vladimir Putin suggested using this drug in Belarus, if necessary. According to the Belarusian president, the drug will be purchased in the necessary amount and used for treatment,” said the spokeswoman.

The second topic was the parade, which will be held in Moscow next week. “Vladimir Putin invited his Belarusian counterpart to attend the parade. Aleksandr Lukashenko will take part in it. He will go to Moscow together with his sons. As the Russian President noted, Moscow is looking forward to seeing Aleksandr Lukashenko and his family at the parade in Moscow on 24 June,” Natalya Eismont said.

According to her, the third important topic was the situation in the economy. “The heads of state discussed future prospects and contacts. The presidents agreed to meet and discuss the issues that are on the agenda today, in other words to continue the conversation in Moscow," the spokeswoman said.
