The heads of state of the EAEU member states are set to discuss measures to respond to the COVID-19 situation via a video conference next week, Belarus Prime Minister Sergei Rumas said as he took part in a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council held via videoconferencing on 10 April, BelTA has learned.

“Next week the heads of state, the members of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, are set to discuss joint measures to respond to the current situation in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak and the efforts to restore economic growth after the crisis,” Sergei Rumas said.

Sergei Rumas noted that despite the difficult situation, the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council was held as planned. However, due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the EAEU Sustainable Development Goals Forum timed to the meeting was canceled and the Eurasian Economic Forum was postponed. All the EAEU agencies continue working to promote the integration agenda, Sergei Rumas stressed.
